NZ Airports submission on National Policy Statement – Infrastructure

As part of a package of National Directions, the government is seeking feedback on a draft National Policy Statement for Infrastructure. Overall, we see the NPS-I as a vital and long-overdue step toward a more enabling, consistent planning framework that properly recognises the role of infrastructure in delivering public good across generations.

In our submission, we provide feedback on the objectives, definitions and policies in the draft NPS-I; highlight some critical issues in relation to how different NPSs and National Environmental Standards interact; and make suggestions for Phase 3 of the resource management reform programme that will fully unlock the benefits of these changes.
