NZ Airports Security Working Group, July Update

30 July 2024

The Security Working Group met on 29 July. It received an update from Mike Hill, Deputy CE at the Civil Aviation Authority, on the development of an updated National Aviation Security Programme (NASP) including updated threat assessment content.

The Working Group discussed options for further engagement with Police to foster more understanding of policing in the aviation and airside context at airports around the country. The group agreed a number of outreach initiatives in this area.

The Crowdstrike outage was raised as an opportunity to share feedback on airport responses to a non-malicious IT outage.

The group discussed the planned security breakout session during the NZ Airports Hui 2024 and ideas for further sessions to take advantage of all airports being present in Hamilton for the conference.
