NZ Airports appoints new Chief Executive

28 Jul 2026

NZ Airports has announced the appointment of Graeme Sharman as its new Chief Executive from 1 August. Sharman succeeds Billie Moore, who departs at the end of July after leading the Association for three and a half years.

Sharman brings more than twenty years of aviation and infrastructure experience spanning airlines, airports, aviation regulation and major infrastructure investment. He joins NZ Airports from Te Waihanga, the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, where he has served as Investment Principal leading investment-review and assurance work across the country’s infrastructure system.

His background includes senior roles across the aviation system: Transport Private Secretary to three Ministers of Transport, Senior Advisor on Aviation and Security at the Ministry of Transport, and operational experience with Wellington International Airport and Air New Zealand. He has held senior advisory leadership roles at WSP, AECOM and his own aviation consultancy.

NZ Airports Chair Matt Clarke says: “Graeme brings a genuinely whole-of-system view of aviation, from airline commercial strategy through to live airport capital delivery, aviation regulation and policy. That breadth, combined with his current work advising on major Crown infrastructure investment, makes him well placed to lead NZ Airports’ advocacy on behalf of a membership that ranges from major gateways to small regional airports.”

Graeme Sharman says: “NZ Airports plays a critical role in advising and convening across government, regulators and industry. I’m looking forward to representing a membership with different needs and scale under one credible, evidence-led voice.”

Graeme holds a Bachelor of Aviation Management from Massey University and a Professional Certificate in Foresight from the University of Houston.
