Airport Weekly Summary

This map outlines where the changes are in airline seat capacity for all airports across the NZ network.  It indicates the ‘biggest winners’ and also those ports recording decreases in capacity.  

The size of the bubble shows the volume of seats at each airport (eg. The larger the bubble, the higher the volume of seats at that airport and vice versa).  The colour indicates whether the seats for the time period chose are up or down on the prior period chosen (eg. Orange = negative change or reduction, and green = increase).  There is also an arrow and number which shows the actual percentage change for each period chosen on the last period selected in the filters.

This graph ranks the city pairs (ie. Routes) in terms of biggest changes in airline seat capacity comparing two periods chosen in the filter.  Green indicates positive % change and organize ranks the negative % changes.

The grey box on the right hand side enables you to filter and ‘play’ with the data and will update the map and graph based on your selections.

Filter Definitions:

Period End Date: This is a calendar icon that enables you to select the last day of the time series you’d like to analyze.  You can see what your have selected above the grey box where it says ‘prior week’ (which is the comparison period) and ‘this week’ (the period end date).

Prior Period:  You can choose to look at the prior week (ie. 7 days earlier) or you can chose the same week last year (ie. Whatever end period you’ve chosen, it will compare to the previous year).

Years Ago to Compare:  Enable you to compare up 2 years prior (or based on the amount of data in the database)

Flight Category: You can filter the routes to only show the airline seat capacity for either ‘Domestic NZ’ or ‘International NZ’ or ‘Trans-Tasman’. 

Carrier Name: You can choose a selection of airlines to filer by.
